Websites often subscribe to a service to try to "geolocate" you based on information such as the IP address assigned to your system by your service provider.

Some sites might also try to gather additional information from Firefox, and in that case, Firefox typically will display a permission dialog asking whether you want to allow that.

If neither of those gives your true location, then maybe the site will ask you for your zip code. Otherwise, I don't know whether there really is a solution.
