I have a ZTE Open C and tried out Android 4.4 that can be installed on it. Well, I didn't like it, so I reverted back to Firefox OS. All is well, except for one small (but annoying and niggling) problem: the Android boot-up splash screen is still there. After it does its thing, then the Firefox splash screen also does its animation. How do I delete the Android splash screen? How do I customize the splash screen on Firefox OS?

Hi Teejay17,

Where did you find the instructions to install Android 4.4 on the ZTE Open C device? Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to change the splash screen for Firefox OS.

I would suggest reflashing the device using the build available on ZTE's support page, according to their user manual:

I will also mention that my ZTE Open C goes through a few splash screens before it starts up. It's possible that one of those splash screens got substituted by the Android splash screen, and that changing it wouldn't necessarily take any less time to start up the device.

The splash screen that my ZTE Open C goes through are:

  1. Firefox logo with the words Firefox OS besides it.
  2. Firefox OS fox jumping, with Firefox logo and the words Firefox OS besides it.
  3. ZTE.
  4. Firefox logo with the words Firefox OS besides it.

I hope that this information helps. Please let us know if this solves your problem or if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

- Ralph

Yes, mine goes through the same sequence as you. Unfortunately, after I re-flashed back to Firefox OS, the first Firefox OS logo splash screen, before the jumping fox, has been replaced by a green Android robot. It's no biggie -- I can live with it -- but it's not as it was originally. These are the two files I flashed my device with: This one, Firefox to Android: https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=bd9437aafbfa21cd&id=BD9437AAFBFA21CD!110&ithint=file,.zip&authkey=!AH3DmM9FI3noPU0 And this one, Android to Firefox: https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=bd9437aafbfa21cd&id=BD9437AAFBFA21CD!109&ithint=file,.zip&authkey=!AAwRGKO0CFhKB7A

I see. It looks like you flashed something that replaced the boot.img file that Firefox OS uses for its boot screen. I don't see a way to replace it without going into too much detail but I'm sure Google has all the answer. Just be sure not to brick your device. ;)
