This issue may apply to your version of Firefox.

Firefox uses technology provided by Widevine to play DRM-protected videos from streaming services. After Google updates Widevine’s content decryption module (CDM) and private encryption keys on May 31, 2021, Firefox users on version 88.0 and below may encounter issues with playing videos from streaming services such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and other streaming services.

How do I know if this issue affects me?

If you are on Firefox version 88.0 and below (or Firefox Extended Support Release version 78.10.0esr and below), you will be affected by this issue. Firefox versions 88.0.1 and above or Firefox ESR versions 78.10.1esr and above will not be affected.

Solution

To resolve this issue, users must update to the latest version of Firefox to ensure the latest Widevine library is available for all streaming services. See this article to learn how to find out what version of Firefox you’re using. To learn how to update Firefox to the latest version, see Update Firefox to the latest release.

Note: The current version of Google Widevine is no longer compatible with 32-bit Linux or with older Mac systems such as OS X 10.9 and 10.10. See Watch DRM content on Firefox for supported platforms.
