Download and install Mozilla VPN to connect to the internet through one of our secure servers, keeping your location and online activity private and throwing off data collectors.
Note: Mozilla VPN is available for:
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa)
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish)
- Ubuntu 23.10 (Mantic Minotaur)
If you use one of the supported Ubuntu releases, there are two ways to install mozillavpn official packages hosted on launchpad:
Ubuntu command line mode
To install Mozilla VPN using command line mode tools, open the terminal and run the following commands.
Install commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillacorp/mozillavpnsudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get install mozillavpn
It may be necessary to install resolvconf if the final command fails, which can also be done using apt:
sudo apt-get install resolvconf mozillavpn
Run command:
mozillavpn
Mozilla VPN will launch. Click and sign in with your Mozilla account credentials. If you don’t have a subscription, visit the Mozilla VPN website and choose the plan that is right for you.

Other Linux distributions
So far, we do not offer packages for any other Linux distributions. But if you want to use Mozilla VPN, you can take and compile the source code from the official GitHub repository.
