What is a default browser?
Your default browser is the application your operating system uses to open web links. When you click a link, it opens in your default browser. You can have multiple browsers installed on your device at the same time, but only one can be your default browser for that device.
Change your default browser on Linux (GNOME)
- Open .
- Type and click on .
- Under , select your preferred browser.
Change your default browser on Linux (KDE Plasma)
- Open .

- Under , choose your preferred browser.

Change your default browser on Windows 11
- Click the Start
menu button and open (or press the Windows key

- Search for or select the browser you want to use in the box.

Set your default browser from within Firefox
You can also start the process from within Firefox, if you wish to make Firefox your default browser:
- Open Firefox.
- In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click and select (or , in some cases).Click the menu button

- At the top of the panel, click the button.Note: If Firefox is already your default browser, the button will be missing.
