Hi, please try a Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.

then
TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...:
If is your Profile :

Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.
I have tried to no avail it didn't solve
You tried making a new Profile, is that correct ?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
did that too no help
not a new profile
Did you check the settings in your Ubuntu distribution in case there is a setting to hide these control buttons?
Are you running Firefox in Full Screen mode?
Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.
I'm not sure how to check settings in my distro still learning I will try the other things and post my findings
nothing has helped
here is my fix that i needed
