Opening a new tab will open about twelve tabs at once. It doesn't happen all the time, it just seems to be at random (whether the window is new or has been in constant use). Having to close twelve new tabs is quite annoying.

This only occurs when I press 'new tab', and they all open to the Google homepage (they're not blank). I have scanned for malware: my laptop is clean through and through. I use the 'New Tab Homepage' add-on.

Are there any solutions or theories for this?

What is in all of those tabs? Open New Tab Homepage add-on and check the settings.

The new tabs open to the Google homepage, as stated.

The add-on doesn't seem to be the cause. I removed New Tab Homepage from the browser, but it still occurs at random.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove Google Anything. Now do the same in the computers Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
