Both buttons are greyed out permanently on all tabs (24!)

I have tried the "restart with Add-ons disabled" fix and that does not work.

I do not think it is connected with McAfee as I use Windows Defender.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

This was the problem and deleting file places.sqlite resolved the problem.
