When I downloaded firefox, it also downloaded McAffee Security Scan Plus. Why? Is this going to interfere with my other anti-virus?

Where did you download Firefox from? It does not come with McAfee Security Scan if you download it from http://www.mozilla.com/ - it has no extra applications included.

Are you sure it was not a plugin that included the McAfee Security Scan, for example the Adobe Flash plugin will by default include it.
