I love firefox but it keeps hanging after a certain time. Sometimes it's only a few hours before it stops working or it will take a few days. Firefox seems to hang at random and the only way to get the browser to respond is to restart my computer. I also have the problem where it won't even open at all... I have to restart my computer again to get it to even load.. These are the two problems that i have with firefox and they are driving me crazy!!!! I would love to be able to go onto firefox without the worry that i will not have to switch browsers or restart my computer to get firefox to work..... thank you to anyone who can help me....

Hello Jamie.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode (don't forget to select Disable all add-ons when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and this one for plugins.

If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.

If the problem is not disappears when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there.

Hi, morus

I still have the problem after i uninstalled some add ons that i never used... I have 3 add ons that i'm not sure if their causing the problem or not: McAffee Site Advisor 3.1, Microsoft .NET Framework assistant 1.2.1, and xulRunner 1.9.1. I also would like to know how to download an older version of firefox and use that one instead.

First, please follow my instructions correctly. Start Firefox in safe mode, click disable all add-ons at startup and see if the problem persists. And the rest, as I said.
