Why is Firefox losing my bookmarks? They're being replaced with a little globe, and they don't work. Also, yesterday's history was lacking at least two-thirds of the sites I visited.

And you're not running out of disk space?

Check the Fix "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message article that has steps which might help your case as well

And just to confirm, you don't use any system cleaning apps like CClean or System Mechanic and similar, that can (and do) corrupt the bookmarks and history databases?
