Firefox ram usage doubles and then changing tabs or adding tabs freezes program.
So normally firefox uses a reasonable amount of ram but sometimes the amount of ram usage almost doubles, then if I try to change tabs the program freezes. I then have to wait for firefox to stop using the excess of ram and return back to normal levels.
I believe this mainly happens when I have youtube or reddit open but I have no idea how to fix this.
I have already tried reinstalling firefox and deleting/changing extensions. The current extension i have on is adguard adblocker and no others.

So how much RAM are you using for youtube and reddit etc.
Yt seems to be using about 550 mb and reddit uses about 1.1 gb for 4 tabs. For example, according to my task manager. Firefox is using about 4.5 gb of ram. I recently saw it shoot up to about 7 gb of ram and that's when the program is unresponsive until the system frees up ram. In process manager, I do not see any tabs using more than at most 300 mb other than youtube. Let me know if you need to know more.
Thanks for the detail. How much RAM do you have. I've just switched some(x) of my Firefox processes to 'efficiency mode' in the task manager to see what may happen. Currently using just about 700MB with just this site in use.
