My Mac laptop was just automatically updated and I can’t access my bookmarked websites. Including my Gmail account. Is there a bug?

When you say you can't access your bookmarked websites, do you mean that the bookmark toolbar is missing? To show the bookmark toolbar, press Command + Shift + B (Mac) or right click on the empty space near the menu items and select Bookmarks Toolbar -> Always Show or Only Show on New Tab.
If that's not what you mean, please clarify.
