How do I stop the newest version of firefox from displaying recently added bookmarks?

This is NOT a way to promote privacy. I have already gone into the about:config route, but "Display Recent Bookmarks" is ALREADY set to "false".

If you cannot change this, then please tell me how to back out of the most recent update,

Good news, it's really easy to hide bookmarks from the new tab page! Instructions are here: Customize items on your Firefox New Tab page

Thanks for trying. This has nothing to do with a new tab though. On any page, when I try to get to my bookmarks, I click on the bookmark icon, and then on the word Bookmarks, and I get a list which has "Edit this bookmark" and "Bookmarking Tools" and "Search Bookmarks" and then a list of the last 40 or so sites I have bookmarked, some going back several months. (It does not display my actual bookmark list, which is also not helpful.

Does anyone know how to back out an update?
