Clobbered my add-ons while cleaning up my installed programs
I was cleaning up my files under my control panel and I (DUH!) uninstalled a program that supports my firefox add-ons. I've been trying to re-install Plain Old Favorites but it doesn't seem to do anything after I download it. I still have the folder with all the shortcuts (thank you) but I can't reconnect them. I also lost contact with all my themes which are not as critical but I would like to use them again. I feel like El Stupido for uninstalling an important application. I've had some serious performance issues with my PC and I removed apps that I could not identify. I bit off too much. I tried updating Firefox but I'm still missing the app. HELP!

The removal of an add-on should not remove anything else but itself.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
While still in Safe Mode,
Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Then in the reply box at the bottom of this page, do a right click in the box and select Paste. This will show us your system details. No Personal Information Is Collected.

Do you know what it was you removed, or what it did?
It had the word "add-on" in it. Duh. Since Plain Old Favorites and all my graphic themes are missing it must be an essential Firefox support app. I don't get that when I download the Plain Old Favorites add on it doesn't install it.

booyah! I got my faves back (without having to go to the folders). Now to reload the themes & other stuff. Thanks!
It could be the work of one of your add-ons. Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>)<Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.
If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.
Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is detective.
