I have Thunderbird on 2 Macs. Sometimes I receive an email only on 1 of them. Why?

I have an iMac and a MBPro, both with the latest Thunderbird and the latest OS X. I have repeatedly experienced over the last 5 or so years of use, encountered a condition that "some" emails once received on one computer will not also download to the other. The server is set to only delete read emails after 7 days, and I have checked and the specific emails are still held on the server (Verizon.com) POP. Most of the time, both computers get all the emails from this same server for the day, but at least once or twice a week, I will look for an email on one of the Thunderbird clients that I know I read on the other and it will not be there. I use the search feature to verify that it has not been simply misplaced in a mailbox. the emails are not there. My work-around has been to go to the computer that got the emails and resend them to myself. It would be nice to understand why this issue is happening and find a way to fix it.

Interestingly, the verify email address post you just sent out arrived on just one of my 2 Thunderbird emails tied to the same server. I need both computers to receive all email. Thanks.

POP mail account must be set up to 'Leave messages on the server' on both computers. Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings for the pop mail account You should have: select: 'Leave messages on server'.

When accessing webmail via a browser, Emails must also be kept in the server 'Inbox' and no other folder as POP mail accounts can only get access to the server Inbox. If you get email downloaded into first computer to the POP mail account and then it does not get downloaded to the other, check on the server to see if it is still in the Inbox or whether it has been put in the trash.

Do you have any other device checking the server, such as a phone, because that may also be the culprit?

Suggest you check the server Inbox and trash to see where that email could be.

The server is set to only delete read emails after 7 days. I presume this has been set up via webmail. ...but at least once or twice a week,...I will look for an email on one of the Thunderbird clients that I know I read on the other and it will not be there.... Test: stop the server from performimg auto deletes and test for a month to see if things improve.
