How do I retreive my bookmarks from Firefox on a HD in an enclosure containing my old laptop's data that died, but which acts like an external?.

My old laptop died but my hard drive was fine, and I was able to retrieve a lot of my data by accessing it through an enclosure. I am not, however, able to retrieve my bookmarks. I can open my old copy of Firefox on my new computer but the bookmarks aren't there, and I never backed them, or my profile up. All Firefox tries to do is update itself, and there aren't any bookmark files that I can find.

Are these bookmarks retrievable?

You can find the Firefox profile folder in this location:

  • /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/

In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the ~/Library folder is a hidden folder.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show in Finder
