As of yesterday, I can no longer upload files from my computer to servers using Firefox. When asked to "Browse" for the file to upload, nothing happens. I also cannot download files from the Internet to my computer. For example, right clicking an image and selecting "save image as" also does nothing (at any web site). I have gone down all the suggested rabbit holes including starting Firefox in safe mode. I saw the same problem listed already but there weren't any solid answers provided. Thank you.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
