Issue with count of unread emails not being correct on taskbar/tray icons since upgrading to 139.0.2
I'm running Windows 10 and recently switched from the ESR Channel version (128.11.1) to the Release Channel version (139.0.2) and, since then, have started having a problem where the unread email count displayed on the system tray icon and also the count on the Taskbar icon are no longer correct. Most incoming, unread emails aren't counted. This feature has always worked correctly for me previously, ever since I first installed Thunderbird several years ago. When I go into Thunderbird, the count of unread emails in whatever folder they're in is still correct, the problem is just with the counts on the taskbar and tray icons.
I'm not 100% sure, but I *think* it might be the case that emails which end up in the default "Inbox" folder are added to the counts, but those which are automatically allocated on arrival to other folders on the basis of filter rules aren't being added to the counts displayed on the icons. I have searched for others reporting the same issue and haven't been able to find anything, so it seems unlikely that it's a bug. I'd greatly appreciate any help in resolving this issue please.

On the other folder's properties, is 'When getting new messages for this account, always check this folder' enabled
Thanks for your reply, Ed. I can't actually see that option I'm afraid - I right-clicked on the name of one of my other folders and selected "Properties", but I can't see that setting. Am I looking in the wrong place?
Are those other folders under Local Folders?
No, I don't really use Local Folders.
Are you using IMAP or POP? I don't know about POP, maybe it doesn't have that option.
At any rate, there are actually two related bugs:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=542725
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1742374
It looks like they may be fixed in beta version, not sure when release will get it.
I use POP, so maybe it doesn't have that option as you say.
Thanks for digging out those bugs. They do look similar to what I'm experiencing, so I guess I'll have to wait for the next release to see what happens.
Many thanks for your time and trouble, Ed.
I'm now on Thunderbird 141.0 (release) but the problem I've described above remains, unfortunately, so any further suggestions would be very welcome please.

Bugs aren't fixed yet, so unfortunately there's nothing you can do but wait.
We’re experiencing the same issue on version 140.0.1esr (x64), running on Windows 10 Pro 10.0.19045.5965 (22H2).
- The user does not see the unread message count on the Thunderbird icon in the taskbar.
- The 'Show badge on taskbar icon for new messages' option in Thunderbird is enabled.
- The notification popup near the system clock (system tray) does appear correctly.
- Windows notifications are enabled for Thunderbird in the system settings.
- We’ve also tested this in Troubleshoot Mode (add-ons disabled) — the badge still doesn’t appear.
