In the main window of the application, in my opinion, an excessively large window appears (approx. 40% of the application area!!!) asking for support (donation). Does a one-time payment (donation) eliminate this window once and for all? I am thinking of abandoning this application, the size is too distracting, too irritating

That is simply the opening page. Since this software is FREE, why do you complain? Thunderbird thrives on periodic donations, not a one-time little donation to hide the prompt. We get no royalties for subscriptions, so your threat to leave is annoying. If your desire is to be just another freeloader, not contributing but just receiving, then click settings>general and untick the start page and then you can continue using Thunderbird for free and hide guilt on not supporting the product.
