The author of MozBaxckup has stated that he can no longer support this app. The app is written in Pascal. The open software source code is available at: https://github.com/JasnaPaka/mozbackup

MozBackup is a great backup app for the Thunderbird email client and the Firefox web browser.

I would dearly wish someone could take over supporting and improving MozBaxkup. It would need to be someone with a solid background in Pascal. Admittedly Pascal is a pretty old programming language but I suspect7 there are still some Pascal coders alive and kicking.

Is anyone up to the task? I fully realize it's a long shot. Those of us who still use MozBackup would be eternally grateful.

Alternative on backing up Thunderbird. This is manual and very quick.

In Thunderbird

  • 'Help' > 'Troubleshooting Information'
  • click on 'Open Folder' button

A window opens showing contents of 'profile name' folder.

  • Exit Thunderbird - this is important.

Assuming Windows OS: The 'profile name' folder is in the 'Profiles' folder which is in the 'Thunderbird' folder. See image below.

  • Go up the directory twice and copy the 'Thunderbird' folder located in the 'Roaming' folder.
  • Paste the 'Thunderbird' folder into a suitable external drive for storage.

Full backup completed.

Note: If using Imap mail accounts make sure you have downloaded full copies of all emails and not just headers prior to backup.

The addon 'ImportExportTools' also offers an option to backup Profile. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/

I know neither of these answers is specific to MozBackup, but they are alternative options just in case anyone reading this requires alternative information.
