Currently have Firefox v. 32. Receive constant notices that update is available. Use link to update to 36.0.1, mounts on desktop (MacBook Pro OS 10.10.2), box opens, drag icon into applications, loads. But then the icon stays on desktop and when check Firefox, it is still running v.32. In other words, is downloading but not installing.

Hello, I have had the same problem (as well as many others) on my Mac Mini OSX 10.10.2 . What I did is just re-download Firefox. If, when you delete the older version of Firefox, you don't check the "Remove my personal data" option, it will keep your personal information (bookmarks etc.).

Hope this helps

I haven't heard of any legit fix for this problem yet, but after re installing Firefox I haven't had any problems.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop

Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install or update Firefox.
