Prior to updating to Firefox 8, Firefox worked fine. Since updating cannot open Firefox. Any suggestions?

Had Firefox on my computer and had updated periodically. Today it started to update to firefox 8.0 when I opened it and I allowed it to run. Afterwards could not open Firefox. Deleted and reinstalled Firefox 8 and still cannot open it.
