Printer not recognised by Firefox and Thunderbird

Neither Firefox (3.6.13) nor Thunderbird (3.0.4) recognises my printer; when trying to print, the list of print locations is empty. Using aboput:config, entries seem present for the printer though.

I'm running Linux (Debian) x64 version as OS.

Printer works Ok for other applications (such as Acrobat reader; Epiphany Web browser, OpenOffice).

Please advise
