Account setup fails with "Incoming server already exists" error. This seems to be the case when the hostname of the incoming server and the outgoing server are the same. My domain is mail.(domain.com) , so imap and smtp are not separate domains.

Chosen solution

I've already seen that answer. But I get the same error.

My suggestion, which often works.... - delete account - close and restart Thunderbird - click File>New existing account and start over. having the same name shouldn't be an issue.

...

However, deleting ~/.thunderbird/ solved it.

My suggestion had been to delete the account and shut Thunderbird down and restart and begin again. n lave the password off during account setup.
