Copying archived messages to new IMAP account from existing POP account

I just created an IMAP account to replace my existing POP account. So far so good, with one exception. I have copied all of my email folders to the server except "Archives". Drag and drop shows the Forbidden icon when I try, unlike all the other folders. (I see it would allow copying to Local Folders, but that's not what I'm trying to do.) My goal is to make archived messages as accessible to multiple client PCs as the other folders are. The environment is Windows 10, Thunderbird version 68.10.0 32-bit.

Aha! (Lightbulb emoji here) I think I see what caused the problem. I had not yet archived any messages on the new account. I archived one sample message and the Archives special folder appeared. I'm now copying annual folders up to the server from my POP account. Problem solved, I think. It might be good to explicitly mention that step in the POP to IMAP article.

The imap account may already have its own folder named archives. Copy the messages, not the folder.

The new IMAP account does not have an Archives folder; I could just create one, but I'm concerned it's a special folder type and not one to be manually created.

You are right, it's a special folder type (system folder) on the imap server, like Inbox, Sent etc, which makes me wonder why there isn't one already. Check if you've subscribed to all folders. Also, who is your imap provider?

Sonic.net is the provider for old POP and today's IMAP account. Not sure about meaning of "subscribed to all folders". Is that something I can do?
