How can I move my "links" from the top of the page to a column on the left or right side.

If you are talking about bookmarks, try { Ctrl + B } to open the Bookmarks Sidebar.

You can use View > Sidebar > Bookmarks to make the bookmarks appear in the sidebar.

Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
