After I have read a message how do I move it to one of the folders I have set up in my email accounts

When I access my email account (hotmail, etc.) through the browser I can move messages I have read to one of several folders I have set up for storage. Thunderbird has no move button only delete, junk, etc. How do I clear my inbox but save messages in selected folders for later access.
