RGB565 BMP files where not supported for a long time but AT LEAST let you attach them (not view), now you can't even ATTACH them!
Can no longer attach RGB565 16-bit color BMP files. We have used these files for YEARS due to our *OLD* embedded system and *USED* to be able to POST them using Firefox on Confluence, but *NOW* someone changed it to give you and *ERROR*, attached is the *ERROR* and what the image *SHOULD* look like! Please add an EXTENSION (plug-in) to support these images again (or *AT LEAST* let me drag and drop them as I used to be able to do). I would add it using "Add Images" below but Firefox *WON'T LET ME*!!! I get the ERROR (that I never used to get until recently): The image "file:///C:blahblahblah.bmp" cannot be displayed because it contains errors. It does *NOT* contain errors, it is just an older format that is perfectly *FINE* and should be supported!!!

It turns out I did a "Help->About Firefox" and it showed an UPDATE PENDING... I did the UPDATE and it is working again with Firefox Version 144.0 (64-bit), nothing to do with the PROFILE! Marking as SOLVED, Thanks!

Note, I reported this *BEFORE* when it let me still ATTACH them but *NO LONGER* VIEW them:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1277446
This old "viewing" issue was never fixed, now I *CANNOT* even *ATTACH* them, so instead of getting *BETTER* you are getting *WORSE*!!!
Note, I guess I'll have to start using "EDGE" since it *DOES* allow me to attach these files... That is a *SHAME* since I have always liked Mozilla Firefox better...BUMMER!!!
Thank you for the link to the bug filed in January 2020 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1610106).
I can't think of any reason for the change in attachment behavior. Could you do this test:
New Profile Test
This takes about 3 minutes, plus the time to test dragging and dropping an image into Confluence.
Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.
Take a quick glance at the page and make a mental note of which Profile has this notation: This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. That is your current default profile.
Click the "Create a New Profile" button, then click Next. Assign a name like Test2025, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button.
Firefox will switch your default profile to the new one, so click the Set as Default Profile button for your regular one to avoid an unwanted surprise at your next startup.
Scroll down to Test2025 and click its Launch profile in new browser button.
Firefox should open a new window that looks like a brand new, uncustomized installation. (Your existing Firefox window(s) should not be affected.) Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account or to activate extensions found on your system to get a clean test.
Does attaching work any better in the new profile?
When you are done with the experiment, you can close the extra window without affecting your regular Firefox profile. (Test2025 will remain available for future testing.)
