Recent emails are coming in unformatted and missing subject and sender info (bitdefender)
At lunchtime today I started getting emails with no header sender or other info. It is just blank and the emails dont show just a load of source info in the message body.

How can it be just the two of us? You'd think that alarms would be going off by now.
There are several people with the same issue (see the forum). If it is 3 or 4 of us then there may be more soon and some may be watching our posts to see what happens. I am not going to fiddle with it until Mozilla says something as it must be a Thunderbird thing if we all have the same issue.
My system needed a reboot. Once I opened up Thunderbird it started downloading hundreds of old messages but all have the same issue of no subject, sender and raw data inside. It is still running. I hope it stops at just this year.
Please provide link to other similar discussions. I can't see anything in the forums.
To find the other people with the same issue you need to look carefully at the header for the forum post. Several people have the same issue but are describing it differently. There are at least 3 or 4 with the same issue and others may be watching. People may have the same problem but havent found the forum.
Okay, I found a few. One had something in common. Do you happen to use Bell sympatico.ca for your email? If so, we have the problem, but not the solution.
Same issue started today. It seems that it happens with pop configuration and not with imap. If someone can confirm this. Also, someone talked about using Bitdefender, and I'm in that case. Don't know if all of the impacted are also.
c.g. (only c.g. please)
A pop account is affected? And Starting immediately upon updating to version 141.0 or 140.1.1esr?
I am already running version 1.41.0.(64 bit). Yes I believe I use a pop account. I am also using Bitdefender.
I dont use sympatico I use BT (british telecom).
I started getting this yesterday afternoon (UK) around 1800.
Curiously we also have Thunderbird on a Linux machine which is not showing this problem. The machine with problems is running Windows 10.
I was also using Bitdefender which I have now removed from Thunderbird, but with no improvement.
I am also using BT POP service.
Looking at the Update History there was an update to 115.10.1 around the time of the problem starting. I am now on 141.0.
I am reading that a lot of people with this issue seem to be using Bitdefender.
If I uninstall Bitdefender completely and reboot then the issue has gone and thunderbird is getting emails properly.
I want to use Bitdefender so deleting it is not a solution. Does anyone have any ideas about how to make Bitdefender and Thunderbird work properly together. The AI bot in chat with Bitdefender says it could be antispam but the settings seem to be on or off with no other settings. I am not convinced and dont want to reinstall Bitdefender until there is a proper solution.
Hello, Sorry, I hadn't seen this thread, and I've been having the same problem since the afternoon of August 11th (?); everything was fine in the morning. Subject: [Emails received from (at)free.fr servers are no longer displayed in Thunderbird].
I disabled BitDefender, and it's working properly again. (Thanks for the tip). So, it's probably caused by a BitDefender update.
I also am experiencing this issue recently and am using Bitdefender combined with a pop3 email account.
anyone using BitDefender, this is the solution. Simple and works, no need to do anything else. Thank you to the person who originally posted it (can't find them)
In Bitdefender -> Protection -> Online Threat Prevention -> Encrypted web scan. Toggling this setting to off seems to stop the corruption occurring.
The downside of this is of course that protection is potentially reduced, so make your own decisions.
It does appear to point the finger at Bitdefender.
Solution update posted at 8:48 Eastern time (12:48 UTC) Thursday by Alexlandru_BD, an admin at bitdefender, "The developers reverted the changes made in the last signature update and this should do the trick until a permanent fix is deployed. Just click on update in systray and reboot once completed. But keep in mind this change is being rolled out gradually, so it may not reach everyone at the same time.."
