'For some months Thunderbird is not displaying all the messages received. Inbox says there are nearly 1600 messages in there somewhere, but only displaying about a dozen. Fresh reopening might suggest, say 8 emails have been downloaded, but perhaps only 3 of them show on Thunderbird. If I go on the net to my ISP (Hotkey /iPrimus) the missing ones show up there. I have tried removing and reinstalling Thunderbird without fixing the problem. I tried the repair files button but no difference. Any suggestions? Hotkey say it's not them. I can send a screenshot if needed

Since February this year, I cannot send any emails from my Thunderbird account which has an optus.net.com account. I receive the emails but when I try to send an email, a box appears with the message 'failed. Recipient address rejected due to domain discourages use of this host.'

I can send emails with optus address on my phone and other devices, but not using Thunderbird on my PC. I have contacted Aussie broadband which are my server provider who believe the issue is with Thunderbird. I have also contacted Optus who agreed that the issue is with Thunderbird.

I can send emails from Thunderbird which use aussiebb.com.au. I was able to send emails from optus.net.com prior to Feb 2025. I would appreciate talking to someone to help me solve this issue. Thanks, Louise.

As I create an event and add attendees, the sent invitation can't be confirmed by visiting the SENT folder. In other words any of the invitations does not appear to be sent as I check this in the sent mails folder. There seems to be no setting arrangements for this and I don't know how to resolve. I would be grateful if any other user who encountered the same problem and solved it coluld help me.

When trying to run in Safe Mode, and compose a new message, I the Thunderbird stucks, so I cannot confirm in Safe Mode, but I had this issue in the past also on other machines/Thunderbird instances, so maybe someone else had a similar problem, or maybe it is a known issue, already in dev team logs.

Also, how can I stop Thunderbird from uploading deleted messages to the Trash folder on the server? Do I just need to create a new folder in Thunderbird for deleted emails, something like "Garbage"?

I've been getting a bunch of POP login fail dialogs from Thunderbird over the past couple of weeks (143.0.1, Windows 11). These seem to occur when the machine is idle and unattended. I will wake it up and see 40-50 of these dialogs stacked with the 'retry/enter new password/cancel' buttons. After hitting cancel on all of them, TB operates completely normally. The passwords are correct, and it sends and receives mail properly when it's being actively used. I have checked with my mail provider, and they see no signs of failed logins for my account in their server logs, which would seem to point the finger at TB.

This also just started happening yesterday on a different machine, same behavior but Win10.

Nothing has changed in months (aside from TB updates) the account and password remains the same, and is operating fine otherwise.

Over the years, random emails seem to have occasionally disappeared from my inbox, though previously I have never been sure if I had somehow unwittingly deleted them. Yesterday, I looked for an email that contained a voucher code that was just over twelve months old, which I had "starred" and had been sitting at the top of my inbox. It was not there, despite it being present only a few days ago.

This morning, while browsing new emails, I hovered my cursor over a regular weekly newsletter, while pondering whether to read it. It disappeared before my eyes. I did not click on it to open it or anything. I have searched for these emails in the deleted folder and elsewhere - they are not to be found.

Emails do not seem to disappear when transferred to a sub-folder, only from the inbox.

Can someone explain how to recover them in non-technical language please? This is a POP3 account.

I have a thunderbird account, and I can send and receive emails without any difficulty, normally when I send or receive an email a copy is automatically sent to my Gmail account and shows up on my mobile phone.

However for the past few days I keep getting hundreds of copies of "sent emails" going out from thunderbird sent box and ending up in my Gmail account.

It is the same 20 or so emails at a time and then a few minutes later the are sent again and received in GMail account I need to know how to fix this issue. I have spoken to The Messaging Coy" and they say its a thunderbird issue contact thunderbird

I have an issue with Thunderbird version 143.0.1 on Windows 11. Everything worked Tuesday (9/23) evening and then nothing worked on Wednesday (9/24) morning.

The problem is that Thunderbird can’t retrieve email on either of my 2 different email accounts from different servers. The error message says “There is not enough space to download new messages.” This is simply not true – I have 1 TB of free space. I can send outgoing messages, but they can’t be saved to the Sent folder.

Here are the steps I’ve taken: Tried compacting – Error message says “..could not be compacted because writing to folder failed.” Deleted a bunch of old Trash messages – Made no difference Cleared the Thunderbird cache – Made no difference Created a new profile – Could download messages, but when I close Thunderbird and reopen it, the can’t download problem reappears.

What happened on Thunderbird’s side of things between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning? Anybody else have this issue?
