How do I keep unwanted "bookmarks" from being added to my selected bookmarks?
I use the Mozilla Thunderbird email program and have just been overwhelmed by the number of "bookmarks" appearing under the "Bookmarks Toolbar." I don't want these additional bookmarks that I did NOT select. Moving them one by one is tedious--and I think new bookmarks are added to the toolbar if I delete any. How do I stop this? Is there a way to eliminate the added bookmarks in mass rather than singly? Thanks,

I think reading this that you are mistaking the open tab where you read the email as a book mark. If I am correct that is just an open email. Right click one of your "bookmarks" and if a menu appears select close other tabs.
Thank you for your response--my question was misleading--the sidebar with all the unloved bookmarks shows up on web pages--not on my email page--I apologize.
My bookmarks sidebar on opening a web page appears on the left side of the screen. The first entry on the sidebar is BOOKMARKS with a big star to the left of the name. There are two other topics on the drop-down menu that includes BOOKMARKS: history and synced tabs. When I click on BOOKMARKS I get a lengthy list of sites I have never opened and have no interest in. I'm asking two questions: (1) how can I delete more than one entry at a time and (2) how can I keep this list from repopulating. Any ideas?
Thanks,
I have changed your forum to the Firefox one, as this is really not something I know much about. I do not even know how to make bookmarks appear on the left.
The bookmarks appearing at the left side of the window are sidebar content.
Easiest to remove multiple bookmarks is in the Bookmarks Manager (Library; Ctrl+Shift+O) where you can easily select multiple items in the usual way via the keyboard and or mouse with Ctrl and Shift.
