Testing for reasons my emails are going to customer spam folders, I receive a "FORGED_MUA_MOZILLA -Forged mail pretending to be from Mozilla" error from mail-tester.com. I've seen some suggestions saying I should eliminate my "User Agent" from my Thunderbird config settings.

Will this cause other unintended consequences of sending and receiving work emails? If its telling recipients of my computer info, why would I want it to be included in emails to begin with? Will this eliminate one issue and cause many more?

Thanks D

I would be interested in exactly what MUA is being included in the message headers. I just tried the service with the current release version 78 and got no such error.

I'm running the most current version of 68 with the lightning calendar extension. Its my understanding the lightning extension isn't compatible with 78 yet.

Under my config I see a calendar.useragent.extra listed as "Lightning/68.12.0" value. I don't see much else with a value with a user agent line with it.

Would someone be able to tell me if these tags important? Can they just be removed?

I mean, I need the mattress not the tag that tells me who made it. I just don't know if the mattress will explode if I remove it.

Lightning will never be compatible with 78, it is built into the application from V78 onward.

I doubt the mattress will explode, but I suggest try 78 and see if you still have an issue. Many of these "checker" sites use some fairly arbitrary settings and I have no reason to think this one is any better than most.

But I did not ask about your config, I asked about the user agent string in the messages you sent. Select the message in the sent folder, press Ctrl+U and examine the header for the user agent string being used. I would really like to know why it is coming out as forged. That just sounds like rubbish, but nothing is truly rubbish when you see some of the things providers put up as detecting spam.

This is what is listed. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101

Thunderbird/68.11.0

Thanks. I guess I shouldn't be waiting for the lightning update then.
