Links in EMails not working any more using Thunderbird
Last few days any links in EMs no longer work by left clicking them, plus the 'open link in browser' doesn't work. The 'copy link location' works but it's a pain to have to paste the link into a new Firefox page & run that. I originally thought it was a problem with the particular EM but it happens in all EMs that have Links. Thunderbird 52.2.1 (32 bit). TB & FF are set as my defaults. TIA!

USNSPARKS saidI already mentioned in my problem that Firefox is already my default browser. That article talks about a lot more than a default browser. check all the settings. Especially the one for handling HTTP, HTTPs and HTML files in the attachments. (there should be no entry.)
Also consider starting your computer in safe mode with networking, as well as Thunderbird in safe mode. I have lost count of the number of folk with problems with hyperlinks that have defective anti virus causing it. Safe mode for the operating system will diagnose that one.
To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, using safe mode try the following:
- Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
- Restart the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
- If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

Hello Matt,
I did the first option only. Restarting Thunderbird in Safe mode. The window that came up was awfully
basic looking without my normal selected background but I got into my Save folder and randomly called
up an EM that should have a link in it. Amazingly the link came up great in my Firefox. Now it gets even
stranger. Before I was even able to start up any add ons my TB background came back up as it normally
does. Naturally I thought "okay looks like we're back to square one again." So I recalled a few other saved
EMs & the links all worked in FF.
Since that seems to have fixed everything I did not try the second option of restarting my OS into Safe mode.
I want to restart my entire laptop to see if TB remains fixed. If so I will immediately call up you reply and select the "Mark it as Solved" option.
Regards,
Karl (With my 11 fingers crossed!)
