Sent folder does not receive email sent, has emptyed itself, trash folder the same...

Some sub-folders are shaded in grey, not high-lit as folders that are okay, in working order. Sent an email to myself, There is no evidence in Sent-folder that I did so. After I deleted message, it does not show up in Trash folder. What is the problem, how to fix these issues?

McAfee - probably not the culprit since the problem is new[er], all was well before.
