Why do my emails disappear from my computer as I'm reading them?
Occasionally while I am reading an email it will disappear from the screen. They do not move to another folder, they are gone from my computer. Very strange,

is your phone or tablet downloading them and then deleting them?
Phone is off, I have no idea if the computer is deleting them. They are in no other location in the machine that I can find. I have been using TBird for a few years and this problem started a few weeks ago. It happens sporatically.

It is usually when mail is downloaded to another device. the device deletes the mail from the server on download and then Thunderbird synchronizes with the server and the mail get synchronized out of existence. Deletions in a pop download rarely get copies to a server side deleted folder. Which would explain why you can not see them anywhere.
Most commonly an issue where the device uses POP and Thunderbird uses IMAP mail protocols to communicate with the same server.
