When I highlighted the password, it gave me only choices to edit or copy password and the only way I know how to delete a password is to click, "Remove All" and now the "Show Password" button is grayed out.

When I tried to delete my old password in "Show Passwords" by highlighting my old password and hitting the backspace key to delete it and every time I click on the background or hit "Enter", it just pops back on where it was so I couldn't correct it without having to click "Remove all" which turned off the "Show Passwords" in "Saved Passwords".

I'm having so much trouble with Apple Mail and Thunderbird saving my password and I do have an Apple User Defined Password. So, I'm constantly having to input my password. Any suggestion would be deeply appreciated!

When transferring Thunderbird Profile between PCs passwords are not transferred. Transferring Profiles between two Windows 11 PCs ( both are the same version ) the email details are transferred but no passwords are. I followed the instructions found on the forums to transfer profile between PCs

As of a few days ago, popup boxes have been appearing where Thunderbird is asking for passwords for my email addresses (I access emails from four different addresses with Thunderbird). Sometimes I will get the same popup box for a specific email address appearing several times over a few minutes. I reinstalled Thunderbird hoping that would help, but, while the popups are less frequent, they are still happening.

Also, while I have Thunderbird set up to check for new emails every 10 minutes and to download them automatically, it is only downloading emails when I shut down the program and restart it. "Get New Message For:" does not work. I know that new emails are not being automatically downloaded as I see that there are new ones at the website of my ISP.

Most of the solutions I have seen are not current, and reference settings I cannot find in my version. I have tried deleting and reentering the passwords by clicking on Saved Passwords in settings, but that did not help. Any suggestions?

Using Thunderbird to check emails and the calendar for an Infomaniak account: The account was active and working properly. After switching this account to 2FA, Thunderbird consistently requested a username and password during synchronization. After some research, the solution is as follows: you need to create a new app password with Infomaniak, then ensure that Thunderbird saves the password and that the “Require device authentication...” option is disabled. I am shifting over to TB from Windows Live Mail. I have installed TB Ver 115.16.2 on 7 computers successfully (Win 7, 10 and 11) over the past year. But on one Win 7 computer TB will not save the password. Usually TB asks for the Password during set-up. But here it asked for it in a pop-up box. Yes, I entered the correct password. Yes, I said "save with Password manager." But here it keeps asking for it, over and over. At one point TB connected to the POP download server, just long enough to download all the incoming emails, but then quit connecting. It won't connect to the SMTP server. The port numbers for POP and SMTP are correct and the security settings are correct. I've done a lot of web searching. Most sites say that profile files logins.json and key4.db may be corrupted. I disabled them (by renaming) and copied those two files from another computer on which the same Thunderbird version works properly on the same mail server. Same thing - TB still keeps asking for the POP server password. I just deleted TB (uninstalled, and deleted all the appdata directories, and verified there were no lingering registry keys using a list shown on Spiceworks). I'll next reinstall, but don't have much confidence that it will work. Thanks.

I went to Privacy and Security of the Thunderbird. I went to saved passwords. I clicked on Show passwords. I had to edit the password before I delete that old password.

This happens each time I open up T-Bird. Somtimes it is Yahoo.mail, sometimes it prompts to log onto aol.mail.com.

How can this be stopped?

I have used Thunderbird for years. Suddenly it asks for my email account password every time I send an email message. What is the problem? The passwords for my email accounts have always been stored in my configuration and it never asked for them. Very annoying.

Thunderbird has not been downloading messages for primary email, [edited]@netscape.net, since March 4. I can't locate where in TB the password is stored for the account.

Since an update to 148.0 Thunderbird no longer retains the log in details for my various google calendars. Every morning I get a blank diary and need to delete all the calendar details then renew them by adding them in again. It's never done it before (over many years!) so what's going on?

A NEW password is required EVERY time to make e-mail go in or out: "Set the password for (e-mail address) in mailin.telia.com" and "Set the password for (e-mail address) in mailout.telia.com". Each time I have to get a password from "Telia Webmail" (!). This is happening since Summer 2025. I´ve checked the e-mail account installation details and it is identical to the original (when I installed it first time). I´ve also made a new account (with another e-mail address) but it didn´t help. HELP!

Ive got appx 10-15 accounts in thunderbird about 5 or 6 DONT rememeber or keep the passwords (for gmail)... others do (for gmail)

Ive got it set as I recall for imap, but when I open thunderbird I get the google popup to sign in (it does as Ive got the PW right) but it never remembers those ones and constantly keeps asking me wither if I leave thunderbird open or if I close it and reopen it... again the PW's are correct as it DOES log in just for some reason thunderbird isnt saving or remembering them anyone have any idea as to why ? thanks in advance !!

Windows 11 machine. I have 2 email addresses in my TB set-up, from different domains/servers, one is a Rackspace for my business and the other is Fastmail. I am repeatedly asked for the server password for every single incoming email, and occasionally asked for the SMTP outgoing password when sending. I have put Windows into safe mode and it still happens there. I just don't know what to try next. Thanks in advance, Laurel

Hi Just started using Thunderbird. Every time I start Thunderbird it ask for passwords. As they are long and secure its tedious. I tried the solution previously shown on your web help (click "Outgoing Server" Click Edit. Under "Security and Authentication" DESELECT "Use name and password") but it doesnt give a "username and password opyion" only a box for Connection security, another for Authentication method, another for User name. Whats the best solution please?

I have recently installed 140.7.1esr (64-bit) on Windows 11

1. It keeps asking for my account password, I always check the box for saving to the password manager, with no effect, I still have to type it in every single time. (I did set up pwd manager and I do have a master pwd)

2. Initially I had Thunderbird pick up my Gmail account as well, but it stopped picking up my Gmail for some reason. So I completely deleted my Gmail account in Thunderbird. yet it persistently asks for access to Gmail every 15 minutes. (I get a notification from Gmail saying that Tbird is asking for access to Gmail). The Gmail account no longer exists in Tbird, does not show up in the menu, and it does not download anything from Gmail if I give it permissions.

I did change my password. On the IPhone and the webmail page the password is working perfectly, but in thunderbird I cannot connect to the server. It seems, the old password is somewhere registered and still used under Thunderbird. What can I do to use Thunderbird with the new password?
