I frequently get messages that are all messed up due to fonts. Lines overlap, symbols instead of characters, etc. Is there some way to have Thunderbird use some other substitute font than this? Thunderbird 140.8.0esr (64-bit) on Linux Mint Cinnamon

I _do_ need a backup of settings, passwords, pgp keys, to move to another workstation. It is unclear what exactly is exported.

Accessing my yahoo email with Thunderbird have worked fine for several months. Now I cannot log in. Yahoo mail is not accessible from the web either. But the web login works fine from Windows. I tried to change authentication method from OAuth2 to password but that didn't help. When I start Thunderbird there is either a dialogue which requires password or a window (see added picture) with a long string at the top of the window. That string cannot be edited. The rest of the window is empty.

For some reason, 3 of 4 accounts I use no longer open on the accounts list. I cannot expand them, I cannot "Get Messages" for them, there's no reaction whatsoever, as in no message in status bar (which works fine, as confirmed with that 1/4 account that still works).

I checked for subscribed folders and all of them are. I even was able to add a new folder, which does get added via IMAP. This is, therefore, not a connectivity issue.

I also checked the Developer Console and Activity Tasks, absolutely nothing shows there.

I removed global-messages-db.sqlite, folderTree.sjon, the .msf files. I checked in Troubleshoot mode. Nothing helps.

This looks like some nasty bug and I am happy to help debugging this further, if you point me in the right direction.

Hi, somehow thunderbird forced me to use OAuth for caldav and carddav. (v140 on linux) Unless I've probably missed something this approach doesn't seem to have considered that people might use more than one device. In the past I had an application password per device with my mail provider. That password covered imap, smtp, caldav and carddav. The application password I could set with a specific name at my mail provider. If the device was lost, compromised or whatever I just deleted that one application password at my mail provider, problem solved.

Now a regular thunderbird setup has the application password for mail and 2 OAuth records per device under "Connected Apps" at my mail provider. But it is not possible to see anymore to which device the OAuth record belong, as there is nothing device specific coming along with these OAuth records, just an IP.

With that perspective OAuth weakened my security options, as I can only guess which OAuth record I have to delete in an emergency case. Did anyone who implemented that with Thunderbird considered that people may have more than 1 device? Maybe even more than 5 devices?

That OAuth approach looks unmanagable to me. Is there a way to switch OAuth off in thunderbird, until it becomes more useable in >1 device setups?

I have been trying to investigate why, in my Yahoo email logs I am getting logins from Virtual Gecko.

Until I started investigating this I had never heard of Virtual Gecko. I certainly have never installed it. The logins are coming from the same device as my web browser login to Yahoo, so it is something on my device, at least it is according to their logs.

The only software on my machine that logs into Yahoo is Thunderbird. And their logs have never shown those logins; but I do get emails about them. Is there any chance Yahoo! is mistaking Thunderbird for Virtual Gecko?

I tried closing Thunderbird and signing out the Virtual Gecko the connection from within Yahoo! and then signing into Thunderbird. That tests seems to indicate be causing an event in the currently logged in devices on Yahoo. At least not immediately.

Not that appears to be your problem but do you have any clues as to what is going on?

I will raise this with Yahoo! and if it follows my previous experience of their support, they will charge me for the privilege of not solving my problem.

As I store all my contacts in a CarDav sync I have no need for a "Personal Address Book". It might even be a problem because accidentily stored addresses there are not synced. The "Delete" on the context menu is grey and cannot be selected. How do I permantely remove "Personal Address Book" from the list of contacts?

certificate for imap <edited>@peternedsmith.co.uk is not valid, someone could be trying to impersonate the server and you should not continue, on clicking the more info, on the panel that comes up, if I click on get certificate, the selections below get greyed out and nothing happens, I have viewed the certificate, and it appears to be from the US, I have taken a screenshot of the top part of it, which is below. My old Arch Linux system with Thunderbird 145.0-1-x86_64 died. My RasPi and my new Pop-OS Meerkat both get 140.7.1esr (aarch64), and say they can't import my backups. I could see the RasPi ARM system getting a different Thunderbird, but the Meerkat is clearly an Intel processor. Why does it get the same version as the ARM based Pi? How can I recover my years of mail history? Both new installations say they are incompatible!

There is a way to add a folder to a Thunderbird account that combines other folders. The one I want to create would be "Inbox and Sent emails combined". I did it in the past, but I can't remember how to do it anymore. Can someone help with this? I am running Thunderbird 140.8.0esr (64-bit) on Linux Mint.

I updated my TB to version 148 (from 140) on a Linux Mint 22.3 - Cinnamon 64-bit. After the update, events recorded in my Gmail personal account, keep popping up and do not allow neither Dismiss or Snooze - Buttons not even work. If you close the reminder window, the Reminder window pops-up a few minutes later.

Interesting is that beyond my personal Gmail account I have a couple other in Google Workspace and they work well. It is something only related to Gmail personal.

Thunderbird email send stopped working something like three weeks ago. I am using Fedora 43. What happened to cause this send problem? I had been using Thunderbird for a very long time with no problems. I am using Mozilla Thunderbird 147.0

When opening Thunderbird on Wayland with Nvidia drivers it breaks other apps. Specifically Spectacle, KDEs screenshot tool. I am here to help supply any logs or error reports to help fix this.

I've recently set up Thunderbird on Linux Mint 22.2 and was unable to sign into Yahoo so I tried to sign in with Firefox instead and had the same errors :-

   Something went wrong
   We could not sign you in. Try again from a different device.

OR

   We couldn’t sign you in
   Change your browser settings to continue. Try the following:
   Turn off ad blockers
   Enable JavaScript

If you still can’t sign in, try a different device.

I can sign in with Chrome without any problems on the same workstation. Firefox version :- 147.0.4 (64-bit)

   Only Extension is Privacy Badger, but this is disabled for Yahoo.com

Thunderbird version :- 148.0 (64-bit)

   No extensions - as installed from Thunderbird download site

I'm not having any issues signing into any other websites / email accounts (Google, Hotmail).

I notice on the support website :- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-yahoo it says "Starting with version 148, Thunderbird is switching to a more secure authorization protocol PKCE for Yahoo" BUT this isn't offered in the list of Authentication methods, has PKCE been delayed? Currently using OAuth2 for Thunderbird

I am unable to find the Archive folder. It is not listed when I right click on the account name. All of my folders are there but not the Archive. Any one know how to deal with this?

Thunderbird 147.0 (64-bit) OS: Linux; Fedora 43 Settings:

• SSL/TLS
• OAuth2
• full email address

This situation started happening about a week ago. I created a new user and had no problem sending email from the same default account. I can also connect to smtp.gmail.com using telnet, port 465. Something is presumably corrupted. I have had this account for many, many years, so I have accumulated many filters and other data.

Operating system: ubuntu 24.04. Thunderbird version 148 snap. Since the latest update, whenever a reminder appears onscreen it is squashed up into a square instead of a letter-slit oblong and is difficult to get rid of. Klicking on the close button has no effect and while klicking on X temporarily removes it, it comes back in a matter of minutes.What is happening and how can I stop this?

I want to access an Outlook.com email. It has 2-step verification. It also says I may be missing a domain name before the email. Not sure what that is. DomainName/myemailname@outlook.com.
