While playing chess at lichess.org, browser power management inhibit messaging to the system gets stuck on its current status. That is, if power management is inhibited by media playing on another tab while I play a game, it will get stuck in the inhibited state. If power management is uninhibited while I play (no media playing), it will get stuck in the uninhibited state. This persists until the browser is restarted even if all tabs are closed.

I don't believe it to be a system issue, as the problem clears as soon as the browser is closed. Chrome based browsers do not exhibit the behavior for me, but I tried a Firefox fork (LibreWolf) and it has the same issue. I don't experience this issue at any other website I visit.

Only certain areas of lichess.org cause this behavior, primarily playing a game against a human opponent. I tried progressively blocking media and script requests to narrow down offenders, but I always break site functionality before I can pinpoint anything.

I'm not so much looking for a solution (although that would be great) as I am troubleshooting advice. Is there any way to narrow down exactly what it is about this specific website that is causing the issue?

I have been unable to log into my email provider from their home page https://mailbox.org/en/ using Firefox. There is a progressive web app that "goes with" Firefox (if that is the right term) and that does not seem to work either. I get blank screens. I have succeeded in logging into mailbox.org in Microsoft Edge and in Brave. Can you please give me any clues as to what settings or whatever I need to configure in Firefox to be able to log into mailbox.org ?

My local newspaper has gone only digital, which I actually like. But, there is an option on the bottom of the reader that is available when using Edge and is not available when I use Firefox. A mouseOver on Edge displays "Print or clip". Yes, it's a snipping tool and/or print option. But it really right-sizes the snipped area perfectly for printing crossword puzzles. The Windows snipping tool (Windows 11) makes it too small so I need to go to Edge for only this one task. My first preference would be to get the function on the Firefox screen, and my second choice would be to figure out how to use the Windows snipping tool to print without leaving Firefox. I am having a major issue with Thunderbird not saving Outgoing emails in Send Folder with IMAP setting.

Having three mailboxes two are set to IMAP and the third set to POP3. The IMAP outgoing mail creates an alert that mail was sent but copy not placed in your Sent folder due to network of file access errors.

Outgoing mail in POP3 save immediately to the Sent folder.

I am using the latest Thunderbird update:

• Server Type: IMAP Mail Server
• Server Name: IMAP.kinect.co.nz
• Connect Security: SSL/TLS
• Authentication Method: Normal Password

Outgoing Server [SMTP] Settings:

• Description - User name
• Server Name: smtp.kinect.co.nz
• Port: 465
• Connection security: SSL/TLS
• Authentication method: No authentication

Note: Authentication was changed form Normal Password in order to gain some traction on the issue during trouble, cause and correction actions.

Addendum: The PC was fitted to Starlink https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starlink in preparation for use as sole source for internet connection. That was abandoned due to email issues.

Recently I have noticed some changes in the way my Thunderbird downloads POP3 messages. Previously, it would be common to ask for new messages once a day and receive upwards of one hundred of them. But in the last month, this number has been limited to about 35 at a time. If I ask immediately again, I get about 35 more, and this pattern continues as long as there are messages in queue waiting to be downloaded. I am not sure if this is due to changes in gmail, where most of my received messages originate, or to changes in Thunderbird itself, or to some sort of third-party hack. Now that I have trained myself to keep on asking until there are no more messages coming down, this change does not cause me much difficulty, although initially it sometimes caused me to overlook messages because I failed to keep asking as long as I should have. Apart from that, it does not seem to be harmful as far as I can tell. I'd just like to know if other people have noticed anything similar, and if anyone knows what is causing it, and whether it has some hidden advantages over the way things used to work.

Facebook videos in Firefox stop playing when clicking the Windows 11 Start button or opening Solitaire (after recent update)

This issue has just started after a Windows 11 update and restart. It has never happened before. I usually watch Facebook Reels while playing Solitaire at the same time — yes, I know, I don’t have a life.

This morning, after the update and restart, I opened Facebook and started watching a Reel as normal. As soon as I clicked the Windows Start button to open the list of programs, the video stopped. I then selected Solitaire, which opened to the taskbar. I restarted the video, clicked Solitaire to open the game fully, and the video stopped again. As soon as I minimize Solitaire, the video resumes playing.

I’ve tried all the suggestions I could find via Google, but nothing has worked so far. Note that this only affects videos playing directly on Facebook — videos playing in the Windows Media Player Legacy video player itself are not affected.

More info... I run two monitors and it seem if I click on whatever I have open in the second monitor the FB video stops. So something has changed after I turned my computer on this morning and updated Windows. I even did a System Restore to a setting two days before this new update and nothing changed still have the problem.

When I go to delete a message lately, I click the delete button and it checks mail instead of deleting the message. I might be going crazy but 30 years of hitting the same button has messed me up.

I am trying to access my QNAP NAS configuration page within my home LAN from a newly installed Linux PC with Firefox 147.0.1. Firefox won't let me access the page, popping up an error page:

I have verified that the claimed risk is nonexistant, but Firefox does not allow me to bypass the warning. There is no "Proceed anyway" or "Advanced..." button as claimed in various help articles.

How can I convince Firefox that I know what I am doing?

Hello! I've recently been having some issues getting videos to play in the background from Firefox's audio notification media player feature. I very frequently use YouTube in the Firefox browser so that I can then exit the browser and still play the audio of a video via the media player, but last night that media player stopped working for me. When I close the Firefox app, I still get the notification as usual, but tapping the "play" button achieves absolutely nothing. I've tried to search the issue and test some fixes myself, but nothing has worked so far. The fixes I've tried include:

• Activated "Allow video and audio" in the Firefox Autoplay setting
• Made sure autoplay was allowed in the YouTube browser tab
• Tried to play the audio while connected to wi-fi and while on data
• Checked for updates to my phone, YouTube, and Firefox (I am up to date)
• Deployed the old "turn it off and turn it back on again" fix, both in Firefox (closing all tabs and re-opening), and for my phone (shut it down and restarted it).

None of the settings for the media player or general notifications for Firefox seem to govern this issue, so I'm bringing it here. Thank you for taking the time to read through all of this. I’m trying to highlight sent (outgoing) messages where the correspondent and recipient are different (i.e., not sending to myself). When this condition is met, I want the subject line to appear green. } Same Thunderbird version, same Windows build, same CSS file, same mail account structure. Is there something on the desktop system that could prevent this from working? For example: • about:config setting related to CSS • Layout or column differences affecting selectors • Rendering engine differences between installations • UI density / table layout mode differences My expectation is that this logic should behave identically on both systems, so I suspect a configuration or UI state difference. Bonjour, J'ai Thunderbird depuis très longtemps et j'ai toujours pris l'habitude de stocker tous mes mails dans le répertoire "Dossiers locaux" qui se trouvait toujours sur un HDD différent de celui ou était installé Thunderbird. A chaque nouvelle installation de Thunderbird, je renseignais le chemin ou était stocké "Dossiers Locaux" et hop en 30s, j'avais tous mes messages archivés depuis des années. Je viens de changer de version de Ubuntu (24.04.3 LTS) et la nouveau Thunderbird (140.7.1 esr), donc comme d'habitude je renseigne le chemin de mon répertoire local "Dossiers Locaux" mais rien ne remonte dans Thunderbird ? J'ai essayé (bidouillé) plein de petits trucs sans succès et je ne m'en sort pas ! Pouvez-vous svp me renseigner ?

Hi Guys this is a new issue and never happened before nor does it happen on any other browser I use If I happen to miss key when typing Firefox automatically opens a search and replace box window in the bottom left-hand corner and it is annoying the hell out of me. If I can't get this to stop I am going to have to change browsers, I have fat fingers and miss key often, so this happens many many many times a day. You can see what I am talking about in the image

The ability to select "Done" for New Contacts is totally off-screen on the right when using part-screen (screenshot2 below). When in full screen only a part of the box is available to complete and entry (screenshot1 below).

I've tried adjusting font size and other stuff in Windows 10, but nothing changed the way the Thunderbird looks in this regard.

I’m experiencing consistent crashes of the plugin widevinecdm.dll whenever I try to play DRM-protected content (for example, streaming platforms that use Widevine). Every time playback starts, Firefox crashes and the crash reports show errors related to widevinecdm.dll, specifically: EXCEPTION_STACK_BUFFER_OVERRUN FAST_FAIL_CONTROL_INVALID_RETURN_ADDRESS.

In such instances, Firefox keeps working normally. The tab doesn't even crash, it's just the player not responding and the message above telling me that the plugin has crashed. I have already sent multiple crash reports, the last one you can find it here on the Mozilla Crash Stats platform.

Does anyone know how this can be solved? I literally cannot use any subscription service anymore.

If I use extension 'Block Site' (shows up as a stop-sign shaped icon with a 'W' on it) to block a site, when I try to unblock it, it fails, with the below message:

"This operation cannot be performed in incognito mode. Please open the page in a regular browsing window and try again."

I am just clicking on the (whichever) site, from a search - not opening a private window... This extension used to work fine.

I did install DuckDuckGo browser, but removed it, as it was more trouble than it was worth. I would have to reboot my PC after each use before FireFox would connect.
