Running on Windows 7 and FF 14

Internet has been dial-up-slow for past 2 or 3 months. We have AT&T High Speed DSL but wait for several minuets just to view another page, delete or reply to an email, etc. A friend suggested a wireless modem and I considered contacting AT&T if they would send us a free one. We are still using the original modem sent to us by AT&T some many years ago.

We have no viruses--everything looks good there & have no messages stating FF is using all the computer's power just to breathe. Do you think a wireless modem would help our online speed or should I simply downgrade to FF 13? (I hear better things about 13 and the usage of add-ons. I need my add-ons!)

SECOND PROBLEM: Also, someone once tried to help me with this long ago but it seemed very confusing & I gave up. I"m not the most computer savvy but I can get around if it is explained very plainly. Back when I was on FF 3.6 the right click menu on the mouse suddenly stopped working. I couldn't copy & paste or save pictures (the pictures is really what I need to save--and no, a new mouse didn't correct this issue) I FINALLY upgraded to FF 14 & no change with the mouse menu. Someone explained to me how to fix going deep into the browser's files and I got so lost. Can anyone help me with this? I think I am now prepared to attempt fixed the silly mouse menu again.

hello whatagem123, it is never a good idea to stick with outdated versions of firefox just for the sake of addons, as this will put the integrity of your system and your the personal data on it at risk - there are various known security vulnerabilities (some of them highly critical) that were fixed in later versions!

so please Update Firefox to the latest release & update your plugins (your java plugin has security vulnerabilities that are actively and widely exploited on the web).

afterwards i'd recommend resetting firefox - this will keep your bookmarks and passwords but will get rid of most other customizations. this might well fix both the issues you've described in your question...

Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

I'll work on that this weekend, thanks for the tip & I'll be back if none of this works.
