firefox not working following update
FX updated automatically yesterday morning and since then, despite 3 shutdowns and an overnight shutdown, fx will no longer load. when clicking the icon OR running as administrater a window comes up with the usual 2 lines, close the program and program not working. as fx was working perfectly well before these uncalled for updates and now isnt working, i can only assume that the udate or add-ons made are the sole cause of the problem. why oh why does fx insist on updating without giving the user the option of accepting or refusing items such as uneccesary add-ons is quite beyond belief. the outcome is what has happened to me, and am now reluctantly writing this via IE( which i do not want to use. perhaps someone has the solution and perhaps mozilla will allow us to accept the updates / add-ons if we want them instead of foisting them on us and hard luck if it stops working.

You can disable updating for Firefox completely by changing these settings in the about:config window:
- app.update.auto - false
- app.update.enabled - false
- app.update.silent - false
do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 15.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
- Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
