Why do the proxy settings change, causing an error message when I open firefox 4

1. I open firefox4. 2. Then I get proxy error message. 3. I got to Tools-> Options-> Network -> Settings, and select No Proxy. 4. Browser works fine. Close browser, end session. 5. When I reopen firefox and start a new session, I get proxy error messages again. My No Proxy selection has been changed to Manual Proxy and will not load web pages. 6. Then I redo step 3 and it works. How do I get my proxy setting to stay on "No Proxy"?
