I am unable to Bookmark some/most sites I visit. How can I fix this?

Nothing happens when I click "Add Bookmark" or "Command + D" while viewing a particular site of interest. Even unable to add bookmarks via "Organize Bookmarks" and manually add the address. The bookmark window stops operating and I am left to force quit.
