What do you do if you forget your primary password?

How does one get into Firefox

Well it is not so much getting into Firefox as logging in to some site, I imagine that is what you mean??

I imagine you can open Firefox and browse the web?

Sadly resetting the Primary password will reset and delete those store. All the passwords are encrypted so clearly you can't change the password if you don't have the current one as that would mean anyone that accesses your Firefox could get you password.

The only thing would be to hire a specialist to hack your Profile :(

After this remember to both export your passwords to a CSV file where you can at least read them and make a complete backup via Settings > Account and synchronisation > Backup

If you forget the primary password, the only way forward is to reset it.

What you will lose : All saved website usernames and passwords and all saved credit card numbers and payment methods.

Saved : Bookmarks, browsing history, download history, open tabs, and extensions.

To possibly recover this, you can try restoring VIA Mozilla sync : 1. Click the menu button, then select sign in, then log in. 2. Slowly build back the passwords back as you use websites.

How does one get into Firefox if one forgets the primary password?

Also, if you are getting the primary password prompt at start-up then you can cancel it by, for example, pressing escape.

This will allow you to use the browser, although obviously without access to saved logins etc.
