how to disable the update messages of firefox and adblocker

blue14

how do I get rid of these annoying webpages that appear automatically when Firefox or it's adblocker has updated? it's like advertising for an app I already use the whole time.

thank you, blue

What web pages ?? that happen when Fx is updated.. I use uBlock origin and never had an issue . . . no adds . . . .

yeah, when it updates. it is not really an issue, it only messes with my neurospicy brain, looking for a minute on that webpage & asking myself, what on earth i have looked for on that page yesterday. :-)

If these are the **“What’s New” / release-notes tabs** that Firefox opens after an update, you can stop them without disabling Firefox updates.

Type `about:config` in the address bar, accept the warning, and search for:

`browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone`

Set it to:

`ignore`

Then restart Firefox. This preference is specifically used to skip the post-update “What’s New” page.

If the page is coming from **AdBlock** instead, open the AdBlock menu → **Settings (gear) → General** and disable **“Allow AdBlock to show occasional promotional messages.”** AdBlock says this also prevents its update page from appearing.

I’d keep the actual Firefox and extension updates enabled—just disable the extra pages. That way you still get security fixes without the annoying tabs.
