Firefox will not update in background
Hi, I use Firefox version 154.0.1. The issue have been going on for years but Im so tired of it.
I have selected that Firefox shall update the browser even when firefox not running. But everytime there is a new update, I just open the browser as usual but it takes more time because not only does the startpage open, a new tab is open as well telling me the browser is updated. I just want it to open the start page, no more, is this possible?

So it actually does update in the background just fine, when you're eventually greeted with the "success" page, right?
To disable the "What's New" tab opening after major version update, see the configuration mentioned in support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections#w_whats-new-page

Thank you for the answer. With all due respect, but I don´t think you are correct on that. Because when the new tab open, I do see a promt that say Firefox is installing, its showing for maybe 5-10 seconds. I don´t need or want that. I would be happy to use an extention.

It's easy, the what's new page is delivered via the updater. So if you see it, you're updated. If you see it and there's "something weird" going on at the same time, it would be better to capture it or look up a screenshot of it online to help understand what you're seeing.
Isn't this just the notification from the what's new page itself? (attached below: …)
