Links that open in new tabs now opening in new window 100% of the time
For some reason, though I have changed absolutely nothing with my browser, now any time a link is supposed to open automatically in a new tab, it opens in an entire new window. My mouse only has two buttons (Magic Mouse on Mac), so there is no way at all for this to be user error in that regard. The best example is in Gmail when you have multiple accounts signed in, you click the profile picture in the upper right and select a different account which then opens in a new tab. I notice that when I use a fresh profile the issue goes away, and migrating a copy of my existing profile between different Firefox versions (this profile I use in 115 ESR exclusively, I don't use it with more than one version, I just mean for testing purposes here), including forks like Waterfox, all are affected by this issue. Is there something in about:config I should look for to change?

Could you confirm if you have this preference checked in the settings?

Can't seem to just edit the OP but when I say about "The best example is in Gmail when you have multiple accounts signed in, you click the profile picture in the upper right and select a different account which then opens in a new tab." I mean that now it opens in a new window every time, as opposed to a new tab, the expected behavior.

That was the issue! I'm not sure how that got unchecked exactly, because I never go into the regular settings page, but now it is fixed. Thanks.
