My Firefox has intermittently (but many times a day) been been slow loading, often simply refusing to load at all. Clicking a link to open in a new tab often opens the tab but the tab says "New Tab" with an oscillating dot on the left. After a few minutes the dot stops and nothing displays. Often clicking something in Google News the new tab says "Opening " and then the Google URL. The page sometimes displays after a couple of minutes but sometimes never does.

I've disabled all my plugins except LastPass, but that doesn't help. My IT Support company hasn't been able to help. I tweeted Firefox and they suggested I DM them. I've done that, even sending a couple of illustrative screen videos. But no oikne has ever responded to my Twitter DM.

Is there any way to talk to a live person and share my screen to get some help?

If not, I'll need to abandon Firefox as my default browser after many, many years. It's become a real productivity-killer.

Yes, I've replicated the problems in Private Mode. I'm really close to switching to Chrome. Very sadly.

I would pay for a hands-on evaluation and fix. I've already spent about 30 minutes with my IT company poking around, but without success.

I have some short videos illustrating some of the symptoms. Is there any way to share them here?

I've disabled all add-ons except for my LastPass password manager, and the problem persists. Before uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, I tried the REFRESH option it offered. That didn't help either.

I guess there's only the uninstall/reinstall option to try now. Do you agree?

Thanks, Dropa. I'll uninstall and reinstall ASAP. I've already switched most of my work activities (CRM, Calendar, etc.) to Chrome for now. I'll also look for and delete the appdata/profile folder. I'm hoping that will fix things.

Hi, Dropa. I followed your suggestions: I deleted all Firefox profiles in appdata/roaming/mozilla/firefox/profiles. I uninstalled Firefox and downloaded and reinstalled it. Next I added in my LastPass extension and imported my previously backed-up bookmarks.

Firefox is behaving now just like before, with the same symptoms. Clicking links in my CRM often does nothing. Clicking on stories in Google News or NBC News opens a window like the attachment. That window takes a couple of minutes to finally display the target page.

If I disable LastPass, the symptoms still persist. Can it be a problem with my Bookmarks??? I can't think of any other culprit.

I got a suggestion over Twitter that the new Enhanced Tracking Protection feature could be causing my symptoms. I've turned that off for the sites I use most often.

Nevertheless, Firefox still stalls loading pages several times a day. When it happens, it seems to last for several minutes and then returns to normal. Sometimes if I close and reopen Firefox the tabs that were failing to load will load just fine. But that doesn't work all the time, just most of the time.

Universally, though, when Firefox stalls opening a page I can go to Chrome and open that age without a problem.

I really prefer Firefox to Chrome, but I may have to switch my default browser if I can't find a solution to this.

This could be a problem with the TLS 1.3 Early Data feature also known as Zero Round Trip Time Resumption (0rtt). You can try to set security.tls.enable_0rtt_data = false on the about:config page to disable this feature until this is fixed by Google or Mozilla to see if that helps.

Thank you, cor-el! I've just done that. Fingers crossed! Bill
