In firefox, when composing an email I can not attach a file or two that comes from within a .ZIP
This just started happening and I'm not sure why.
I access my email via a browser. When i compose an email If I have a .ZIP file that contains a bunch of files. If I want to attach say file # 6 and File # 7 to the email I am composing I would open windows explorer, traverse to the ZIP file location and click on it so it opens in windows Explorer. Then I'd highlight the one or two files I wanted and I'd drag them to the email.
This would typically attach the the files but it no long works - I have a feeling it may be due to windows 98 I hear you guys changed (fixed) how files are processed.
This is awful I now must extract those files to hard disk (of if there's another contained ZIP file within its even more extracting) - I'll this makes so much work and if I forget to delete all the files I execrated I'll run out of space.
Is there I setting that I can set to make it work the way it used to - I don't want to learn another browser but this change has killed my poductivity

I'm not sure its the same. The ZIP file already exists on my hard drive.

I opened a ZIP archive with Windows File Explorer and attempted to drag and drop files onto the upload box on Github. Normally when dropping files from an uncompressed folder, Github places a dashed outline around the area where the drop can be accepted when the mouse pointer gets over that area. With the compressed folder, Github did not detect the potential drop so whatever scripts would have run to grab the files did not run.
When I dragged from one side of the screen, there was a "no go" symbol on the mouse pointer. This can indicate a mismatch in privileges (integrity level) between the two programs. But when I dragged from the other side, no explanation for the failure.
I tried searching for a bug on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ but didn't see one right away. It could be that most people do not browse zip files this way, so it wasn't detected before.
Note: tested using 98.0.1.

AFAIK-Zip file must be unpacked before you can attach those files. You can't attach zip files from the zip file. You'll need something like 7zip to accomplish something what your asking. Or if Windows can open and you attach the files but if that doesn't work then you need to unpack the zip file to attach them.
I have been doing this all along. Windows File Explorer is opened to a ZIP file and I can see the contents within that file. I have Always been able to select one or more files shown in that archive and drop them into the Attach box of my web mail document
Version 98 screwed up everything about file management
I have users that are now downloading the same file 20 times or more because FF doesn't ask what to do anymore it just blatantly saves to the download folder - When software developers muck with a users settings bad things will happen.
The developers need to learn ask for permissions before you screw me by changing my setting - I didn't want to change to Opera but WTF Mozilla
Another example - I used to be able to look at the contents of a zip file in windows explorer. If I only wanted 2 of the many files listed in the archive I could put a tick mark on both files and then drag them to my mozilla window and the files would get copied there - Well that no longer works. I must export all the files out my archive copy the two want to mozilla then delete everything I just Exported -_ NOT GOOD, LOST PRODUCTIVITY
