Ok, Microsoft made me mad, because I have to have an MS account to validate my Office. I aint doing that. So I installed you Thunderbird, but the address book tutorials do not work in my version. So then I tried to open Firefox, and update that account, but it also does not adhere to your directions.

I need to make my e-mail: ... @startmail.com - in my firefox account.

Do that for me, as all your help takes me around in circles. And your help and directions are as bad as Microsoft's, and because all your stuff it so hard to navigate, I am a huge proponent of breaking up tech companies to such pieces, a microscope could not see them. All of you are too big, and powerful, and make doing anything so cumbersome, it's not worth it. Seriously thinking of junking e-mail period, yours is NOT user-friendly period. I do not want to be in you control, I want to be FREE. Linux maybe an option, because, then I am not on anyone's radar. Please advise how to fix this. Monty

Hey there,

It can be difficult to configure email clients, not because the client makes it difficult, but because every email service provider uses different settings, and this looks to be the problem in your situation.

You are using services from startmail.com, and they are the resource that you should be utilizing for support.

Specifically this is the page Here that you should visit to get the instructions that you will need to follow.

To put it simply, you need to configure your startmail account to allow you to login over IMAP; you must make a trusted device password. Login to your account on startmail.com.

1. Go to Settings 2. Go to Trusted devices/IMAP 3. If this is the first device you're setting up, enable IMAP access and click ADD DEVICE 4. Choose a device name, enter your email account password and click on ADD DEVICE 5. The device information configuration values which you will enter into your device is shown. For security reasons, this is shown only once so take a screenshot or save elsewhere as needed.

After you have created your special password you can then use the server settings as indicated below.

Incoming mail server (IMAP)

   Address: imap.startmail.com
   Port number: 993
   Authentication: TLS (using normal/plain password)

Outgoing mail server (SMTP)

   Address: smtp.startmail.com
Port number: 465 (or alternatively 587)
   Authentication: TLS (using normal/plain password)

Let me know if this helps you or not, I have never used the services provided by startmail.com, as I host my own email server.

Regards, Adam

Are you talking about issues with Thunderbird, or Firefox?

Adam David Sorry, current forum security sometimes delays the posting of messages. And in turn, we are not notified of those posts.
